The Statewide Parcel Map Inventory (SPMI) attempts to collect a current
“snapshot” of parcel data development across Minnesota. This survey
focused specifically on the increasing development of digital parcel data
in Minnesota.
Further information about parcel data development in the Metro
area can be accessed on the MetroGIS Website:
www.metrogis.org/data/info_needs/parcel_boundaries/index.shtml
There are many reasons for this survey. The Minnesota Department
of Transportation has funded this survey for ease in understanding existing
parcel data development activities for use when partnering with local governments
on transportation issues. The survey has also been used by organizations
wanting to understand how their neighbors and other units of government
are using digital parcel data. Some organizations may just be beginning
to build a digital parcel database and will find information in this survey
helpful. Others may have well established parcel datasets and would
like to work with nearby communities on data collaboration. The uses
for this survey are as numerous as the participants who contribute to it
and the organizations that utilize the results.
This online site has been developed to view and query the 2004 survey
results through an interactive mapping and reporting interface. Instructions for using this site can be found using the "Help"
link on the left-hand navigation bar.
Thank you for your interest in this important survey!
