| Abstract | The Surface Cover Type Layer is an ARC/INFO polygon coverage that describes the vegetation information on Trust land administered by the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA). Primary attribute storage is provided in the Operations Inventory database that is associated with the coverage. This relational database consists of several tables, the most important of which are Stand Record, Species/Product, Remarks, and Stand History. |

| Attribute Accuracy | For forested stands, attributes are from variable plot field surveys; for non-forested land, attributes are from air photo interpretation. | |||
| Logical Consistency | Data are topologically structured and verified within ARC/INFO. | |||
| Completeness | Associated tables may lack full details of stand characteristics. | |||

| Lineage | Data Sources: 1:15,840 Unrectified Black and White Aerial Photography Processing Steps: Data are collected for each reservation through a well-defined process of stand delineation on mylar over 1:15,840 black and white aerial photography. Aerial photographs are prepped with section corners for registration purposes. Vegetative cover is interpreted from the photographs prior to the commencement of field work. Most stands are field checked and their characteristics are described following Bureau of Indian Affairs classification schema. After completion of the fieldwork, stand delineations are adjusted accordingly. These delineations are later combined into a single master source manuscript, and digitized and processed into ARC/INFO coverages. Most attribute data are also collected in the field and recorded on Stand Record Tally Sheets and Stand History Forms that will be used in subsequent tabular data entry tasks. Primary attribute storage is provided in the Operations Inventory database that is associated with the coverage. |

| Entity and Attribute Overview | The following attributes are the only ones associated with the Surface Cover Type Layer (SCT4) spatial data base: SCT_ _ _ - ID SCT_ _ _ - COMP SCT_ _ _ - STAND ACRES To fully utilize the information in the SCT4, it is necessary to have the Operations Inventory (OPINV) data associated with the coverage. This is a relational data base in Rbase and consists of several tables. These tables and their attribute database field names are listed below.
