| Abstract | This Chippewa National Forest Oracle table contains attributes for the GIS STANDS layer. Each record in the table contains attributes for the corresponding GIS polygon. Stands are defined as any natural or artificially created vegetation which exhibits enough homogeneity to make it distinguishable from surrounding areas. Stands are both forested and non-forested. The data was developed for forest planning and project analysis. The data was interpreted from 1:15840 resource photography and most have been field verified. |

| Attribute Accuracy | All stand attributes were interpreted from aerial photography. Prior to the late 1980's, 10% of all stands were visited and examined every year as part of an inventory and update program. Since that time, the annualized inventory program has evolved to a program where stands are visited and examined on an as needed basis. Therefore attribute accuracy varies from stand to stand. | |||
| Logical Consistency | Not applicable | |||
| Completeness | Every stand on Forest Service ownership in the Chippewa National Forest has a record. | |||
| Horizontal Positional Accuracy | Related to GIS STANDS layer (See metadata). | |||
| Vertical Positional Accuracy | Not applicable | |||
| Lineage | DATA SOURCES: 1:15840 resource photography - spanning several years PROCESSING STEPS FOR THE STANDS LAYER: Prior to mapping in GIS, stands were interpreted and mapped on the 1:15840 resource photography and attributes were entered into the Stand Table in Oracle. |
