Metadata created using Minnesota Geographic Metadata Guidelines
| Originator | MDA Geospatial Services, Inc. |
| Abstract | Natural-color one-meter resolution digital orthophotography was acquired over 40 Minnesota counties in Summer and Fall 2006. Some areas are leaf-on; other areas are leaf-off. The U.S. Geological Survey procured the imagery from the vendor in order to make it publicly available. The imagery is currently accessible via a WMS service from the Minnesota Land Management Information Center (LMIC). LMIC created this metadata record based on information provided by MDA. |

| Purpose | To validate or collect road centerline data in support of the U.S. Census Bureau MAF/TIGER Accuracy Improvement Project (MTAIP). The Census Bureau worked through their prime contractor, The Harris Corporation, to verify that all local street centerline GIS files meet or exceed the spatial accuracy requirement of 7.6 meters. The Harris Corporation contracted with MDA Geospatial Services, Inc. of British Columbia to acquire aerial photography to be used in the evaluation/data development process for selected counties. | |||

| Attribute Accuracy | No information provided by MDA. Colors appear generally muted when compared with U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency imagery from the National Agricultural Imagery Program. Colors also vary depending on whether a particular area was flown leaf-on in the summer or leaf-off during the late fall. |
|||
| Logical Consistency | N/A | |||
| Completeness | The data covers 40 counties in Minnesota, approximately 45,081 square miles. The remaining 47 Minnesota counties are not included in this dataset. Beltrami County is only partially covered (areas in the north, east and west portions of the county and the middle of Lower Red Lake are not covered). Several tiles in south Crow Wing County are missing from the WMS service -- these will be filled in. |
|||
| Horizontal Positional Accuracy | The accuracy of the digital orthoimagery is 5 meters at CE95 (95% Circular Error), according to MDA. | |||
| Vertical Positional Accuracy | N/A | |||
| Lineage | MDA Geospatial Services, Inc., flew the areas at a flight height of 27,000 feet with a Zeiss Top 15 camera. The film was scanned at a resolution of 14 microns to yield a ground sample distance of 1 meter pixel resolution on the resulting digital imagery. The digital imagery was processed in DOQQ (3.75’ X 3.75’) format with overedge coverage. The U.S. Geological Survey procured the imagery from MDA in order to make the data available to the general public, and delivered it to the Land Management Information Center (LMIC) on March 26, 2008. Files were in GeoTIFF format, were tiled by quarter-quad, and were grouped by county. Nine counties were in UTM Zone 14: Big Stone, Grant, Lac qui Parle, Marshall, Pennington, Rock, Stevens, Traverse, Wilkin. The remaining counties were in UTM Zone 15. LMIC reprojected the UTM Zone 14 files into Zone 15 using EPPL7 GIS software. The files were then read into LMIC's WMS service and pyramid files were built to speed display. |
