Dan Ross is the new Chief Geospatial Information Officer for the Minnesota Office of Enterprise Technology. Dan has been with the State for nearly 20 years. His most recent role was with the Department of Transportation where he worked as the Business Solutions Manager. Prior to his State service, Dan worked in the Geographic Information System (GIS) field for Stearns County.
Dan was selected from among several strong candidates. His overall level of experience, including extensive GIS experience, plus his strong managerial skills, will help take the Minnesota Geospatial Information Office (MnGeo) to the next level now that it has transferred from the Department of Administration to the Office of Enterprise Technology. The CGIO is accountable to the State’s Chief Information Officer, Carolyn Parnell, and is actively engaged in the state’s legislatively mandated initiative to consolidate all executive branch IT under the direction of the CIO (for more about this initiative, click here).
Dan replaced David Arbeit, who retired from MnGeo on April 10, 2012.
