Gary Swenson
Gary is the GIS Manager for Hennepin County, focused on implementing a GIS which provides accurate, accessible data and services to meet the changing needs of Hennepin County and the surrounding community. He is working with county administration to develop strategic direction for implementing an enterprise GIS that supports the county’s vision.
Gary is currently an alternate on the MetroGIS Policy Board and has been an active participant on multiple GIS collaborative groups such as: U.S. Department of the Army’s CERL Installation Spatial Technology Advisory Board (1996-2001), National Guard Bureau GIS Committee (1998-2001), Anoka Ramsey Community College Advisory Committee (2001-2004), MN GIS/LIS Consortium Planning Committee (1997, 2004-2006), and the MetroGIS Coordinating Committee (2001-2004).
Gary has a bachelor’s degree in Geography from St. Cloud State University and has 14 years of GIS experience working for organizations such as the Minnesota Department of Military Affairs, Anoka County, St. Cloud State University, and Hennepin County.
