Dan Ross

Dan was appointed Minnesota's Chief Geospatial Information Officer in April
2012. He has been working in the field of GIS for 20 years and prior to joining MnGeo, he worked for the Minnesota Department of Transportation for 15 years. At
MnDOT, Dan served as the
Manager for the Application Management Section in the Office of Information and
Technology Services. In that capacity he managed the Enterprise GIS, Document
Management and Application Development Units for the organization. Previous to
that position, Dan served 5 years as the Supervisor for the Enterprise
GIS Services Unit at MnDOT and also served as an IT Project Manager and
Trainer.
Prior to MnDOT, Dan served as a System Administrator and Applied GIS Instructor
at St. Cloud State University, and as a Regional GIS Coordinator for the
Minnesota DNR.
Dan holds a Masters degree in Geography with an emphasis in GIS and Remote
Sensing. He participates as a member of several state level committees related
to technology and GIS. Dan is a former Chair of the Minnesota GIS/LIS
Consortium.
