Mitch Bergeson

Mitch Bergeson is the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) National Map Liaison for Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri and Wisconsin and performs outreach and coordination related to key initiatives of the National Geospatial Program (NGP), including elevation, hydrography, and US Topo.

He has worked as a geospatial science practitioner for the U.S. Department of Interior for over 20 years. Prior to joining the NGP in 2021, he worked for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's (USFWS) National Wetlands Inventory (NWI) as a Project Lead and GIS Specialist on the NWI database, Wetlands Mapper, and the Wetlands Status and Trends Projects. Mitch held roles as the Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) Wetlands Data Steward and as a member of the USFWS Geospatial Steering Committee.

Mitch received a B.S. in Biology from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point and an M.S. and Certificate in Wildlife Ecology and GIS from the University of Wisconsin - Madison.
